About Us
Hello! We’re Sean and Claire Scott, founders of The New Forest Paddle Sport Company…

After years of visiting Milford on Sea and admiring the stunning coastal location of Keyhaven, we wanted to share our love of paddle sports and get more people out on the water.
Like all great ideas, it began in a pub… we wanted to launch our own business down here,
using Sean’s previous instructing career as a starting point.
So, the New Forest Paddle Sport Company was born!
Over the summer of 2015 we acquired a shop and selected world-leading equipment for our fleet.
Since then our range of services and friendly team of staff has grown and grown.
We are so thrilled to see more and more happy customers taking to the water each year!
Each of our instructors started their paddling journey with us, and all remember what it is like to be a beginner. Being a family business, our people are key to our success, and we’re proud that all our instructors are patient, enthusiastic and passionate in their teaching.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on the water!

Meet The Team

Sean
Director & Chief Instructor
I’ve been teaching sailing, kayaking, raft building, windsurfing and SUP for 10 years, in a whole range of conditions, with various ages and abilities. I love my job and am happiest when out on the water – or sometimes in it!
Even on my day off you’ll find me on my SUP surfing, race training or just touring and making the most of being out on the water.

Claire
Director & Instructor
I’m relatively new to the water sports world myself, but I love being out on the water touring, surfing or teaching on our beautiful south coast.
You’ll also find me in the shop, where I’m available to help with all booking or sales inquiries, and at our Keyhaven shore base helping you get launched for your hire or lessons with us.

Jan
Instructor & Office
Having started paddling with Claire and Sean a few years ago, I have now joined the New Forest Paddlesport team as an instructor.
I promise you that once you start paddling, you’re bound to be back for more!
You’ll also find me helping out in the office and shop when I’m not on the water.

Tanya
SUP Yoga Instructor
I’ve worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years, and I love combining my land-based Yoga teaching with paddling out in the sunshine.
Come and join me for a session, you’ll love it!

Simon
Instructor
I’ve been a keen stand-up paddleboarder since moving to the coast seven years ago, and aim to get out on the water all 12 months of the year.
I enjoy all SUP disciplines, including surfing, and like to get out and explore new places to paddle.
I’m also the owner of Hutch SUP Wear, the first distinctively SUP clothing brand in the UK.

David
Instructor
I got into SUP in 2015 due to my frustration about lack of surf in the area! SUP filled the gap by giving me the chance to be on the water and keep fit.
I quickly progressed into long distance paddles and in 2018 completed the Trent 100k Race with 2 others from New Forest SUP club.
Becoming an instructor was a natural progression for me, so that I could pass on my knowledge and passion to others.

Kaz
Instructor
I’m the Kiwi from Down Under who loves being in, on, or near the sea! I’ve worked as an outdoor instructor for 20 years and found paddleboarding a couple of years ago after coming to a club paddle session.
One of my favourite things about paddleboarding is that it makes being on the water accessible for all - chilling out having a chat whilst paddling on flat water, or catching small friendly waves at the local break.

Ben
Instructor
I have been paddleboarding since 2014 when I learnt to SUP down in Cornwall. I got hooked and haven’t looked back! I have been a SUP instructor since 2017 and love passing on my enthusiasm for the sport to others, whether you want to paddle for fitness, race, tour or “SUP and chat” we are lucky to teach and learn in such a beautiful part of the world!

Instructor
My paddle boarding journey began when my kids bought me a session with Sean for Father’s Day. I was hooked from them on and in 2017 became an instructor. It’s great when I see people having that ‘moment’ when they stand up and when they realise that they are hooked on it! I have had major back surgery and SUP is the best thing I have ever done for core strength. Give it a go, you won’t regret it - see you on the water!

Emma
Instructor
Hi, I’m Emma. I had my first paddleboard lesson on holiday in Cornwall in 2014 and loved it!
At last I had found a water sport that didn’t feel impossible for a complete novice.
Since then I have completed the Head of the Dart and participated in the British SUP Club Championships.
I have been instructing since 2017. I love being out on the water for fun, to relax and to help improve my fitness and balance.
