Service Description

The British Stand Up Paddleboard Association “Ready to Ride” course is aimed at adults who have tried stand up paddling before but want to learn the basics from an experienced instructor before heading out on their own. This course is focused on developing your paddling skills and making you a safe paddler allowing you to hire and take part in more adventurous experiences. ​ We do recommend taking part in a 1 hour taster session before taking part in this course to give you the best chance of completing the course. ​Learning to paddleboard is a fast and fun process with a qualified BSUPA Instructor and BSUPA approved SUP school. The course structure is designed to give you the information you need to get on the water safely, have fun and learn the basic techniques of paddle boarding. ​During the course you will be given an introduction to how the weather and environment affects you, how to carry the board and paddle, paddling technique, different types of turns, moving your feet on the board, self rescue, how to fall safely as well as how to plan expeditions and the basics of stance in surf. ​The 2 hour course is run in our flat water location at Keyhaven Quay and upon successful completion, you will be presented with your BSUPA Level 1 Ready to Ride Card and a copy of Simon Bassetts BSUPA Stand Up Paddle Boarding Beginners Guide. In some cases we are not able to issue a Ready to Ride card. This maybe that you require some further training to achieve the standard required for us to sign you off as a safe and competent paddler. £60 per person with Paddleboard Hire or £55 when using your own board. Wetsuits provided free of charge if required. We do recommend if you have your own paddleboard using it for the session. Please note these are Adult only group sessions but private is available for families please contact us for availability. We can also offer a 1 hour private 1-1 BSUPA Assessment for experienced paddlers looking to gain the Ready to Ride certification allowing them to hire with us and other center's around the UK for £75 The BSUPA Ready to Ride runs from 1st of April - 31st of October.
