Foiling is the next big thing in watersports!

With everyone wanting to fly starboard has been working hard and developed a range of foils for different conditions suited to different types of riders.

In the UK we offer the following wing sets:

S Type

1500

2000

E Type

1700

and the following mast

V7 Aluminum

72 & 82

Monolithic Carbon

72 & 82

Wing Sets

S-TYPE

For surfing waves and carving maneuvers. The S-Types feel solid, stable and secure. They react instantly and precisely to carving pressure. The smaller the size, the faster the speed.

The lower aspect ratio provides stable and controllable lift with rock-solid stability. The sweeping leading edge lets the wing carve and react smoothly.

Starboard Foils' signature look: the double concave adds stability at speed while the drop-down wing tips act like thruster fins to give precise carving traction.

The moderately thin profile section with its rounded leading edge and a more symmetrical shape blends speed, control, stability and stall-resistance.

E-TYPE

Wings designed for more glide, more speed, with maximum pumping and flying efficiency.

The E-Type's higher aspect ratio and straighter leading edge increases flight efficiency for a faster glide with less drag.

Starboard Foils' signature look: the double concave adds stability at speed while the drop-down wing tips act like thruster fins to give precise carving traction.

The thick asymmetrical profile with a rounded leading edge gives maximum lift to boost low-speed performance and overall flying efficiency.

Mast Sets

ALUMINIUM V7

Maximum stiffness and strength. Wall thickness is reduced and three internal cavities are maximised to bring weight down to a minimum. Three load-bearing I-beams run down the length of the mast for maximum strength and stiffness. The front and back stringers are made extra thick and carry vertical loads through two 12mm wide stainless steel barrel nuts.

The mast's core is made from extruded Aluminium 6061 that is anodized and then sealed water-tight. The ends are then machined by CNC and spacers made from Akulon (a type of recycled plastic that is extremely tough and stiff) are finally fitted on both ends.

Two side-bolts allow us to maximise connection strength and stiffness without adding wall-thickness. If you undo these bolts and the two vertical bolts, you can remove the top plate mount and (surprise!) there is a Deep Tuttle fitting inside. 2 in 1.

Quick Lock fuselages are split into two pieces: the front piece and the tail piece. The tail piece is supplied with the Wing Set and the front piece is supplied with the Mast Set.

The fuselage front piece needs to be assembled to the mast when you first unbox your Mast Set. Once assembled, this front piece doesn't need to be removed from the mast anymore.

MONOLITHIC CARBON

Maximum efficiency and minimum weight. The base is shaped super-thick to provide maximum stability and rigidity. This thickness tapers down to a narrower chord for enhanced maneuverability and improved efficiency. The rounded leading edge is made to keep turns smooth and precise at any speed. It was easily our favourite new item from the new collection.

The top plate is fused with the mast to form one monolithic carbon piece. Four counter-sunk top-plate bolts fit through four beveled aluminium washers for optimum load distribution. The masts are supplied with a separate adhesive foam pad that we don't recommend using. We find these foam pads reduce the solid connection between rider and foil.

Much of what makes these masts so light, so stiff and so strong needs to remain a Starboard Foils secret recipe. Roughly speaking, Starboard Foils' Monolithic Carbon masts are made from pre-impregnated 'ultra' high modulus carbon layers, orientated along three axis and wrapping a proprietary lightweight core to be pressed under extra-high hydraulic pressure at extra-high curing temperatures.

QUICK LOCK HD

The front wing slides over the fuselage and locks in place with a quick half-turn of the pressure bolt. The new HD upgrade has an extra hole for a second bolt that gives additional security for heavy duty use.

Will this front wing work with other fuselages?

Quick Lock HD front wings fit both Quick Lock HD fuselages and Quick Lock fuselages. They won't work with Wind Foil fuselages that use the saddle system.
