Sunset Picnic and SUP at Keyhaven
“Last minute SUP booking for my wife and I.
Met with Jan the instructor who was just wonderful - as a complete newbie she was very reassuring and calm.
Gorgeous full moon and sunset paddle from Keyhaven what a perfect start to paddle boarding.
Thanks everyone for making us most welcome.”
We’re so lucky to have the stunning waters of Keyhaven right on our doorstep.
This beautiful and sheltered area is absolutely perfect for a relaxed paddle
before stopping off at the beach for a picnic.
The idea for this experience was born when we were paddling out to Hurst Castle together to watch the sun go down with a home-made picnic.
It was such a special moment, and we’d love to recreate for you.
Jesse from Hurst on the Hill provides a gorgeous seasonal picnic for two, which your instructor will carry, and then leave for you two to enjoy during the sunset on the beach. You’ll paddle home in the twilight, returning to Keyhaven for the end of what promises to be a memorable evening.
All our dates and times for 2020 are now available to book online.
Our Sunset Picnics run from May - September
£65 per person.
Your experience includes:
SUP Hire for two
Instructor Led paddle for 1 Hour from Keyhaven to Hurst Castle
Seasonal Picnic made with the best local produce
1 Hour SUP back to Keyhaven (instructor led) as the sun is setting
Can I do the Sunset Picnic as a beginner?
Yes, because all tuition is provided during your time on the water. However, we do recommend a taster session first to get those wobbles out of the way, so that you can be more relaxed when taking in those sunset views!
Do Instructors come with us on the Sunset Picnic?
Yes, an instructor will guide you along Keyhaven to Hurst Castle. Once you’re there they will leave you for 30-45 mins to enjoy the views and picnic alone before joining you for the paddle home.
What’s in the picnic from Hurst on the Hill? Does it include drinks?
The picnic changes each time as Jesse likes to work with local seasonal produce. Please inform us of any allergies or dietary requirements and this can be catered for. Soft drinks are included, as drinking and paddling is not recommended.
Will I (or my picnic) get wet?
Your picnic will be transported on a board with your instructor so no need to worry about falling in and spoiling the food! Depending on skill level, many paddlers are able to stay completely dry. However, there is always a possibility of getting wet – we are a water sport!
Will it be dark on the paddle home?
It can get a little darker towards the end of the session, but your instructor will be keeping an eye on the clock so you don’t have to. They’ll plan to paddle back during the sunset so it will be light enough to see where you’re going.
